This two-storied log building at the edge of Kalamaja closest to the Old Town was designed by Konstantin Wilcken in 1899. Two years later, the house with a limestone basemenet and a wooden stairwell that extends through the house out to the courtyard, was erected.
In 2009, the house was renovated according to the architectural framework prescribed by the National Heritage Board, with the aim to maintain as many of the existing building details as possible.
The façade of the house remained practically unchanged, we simply removed the intact scaffold, cleaned and refinised it. We also reused window frames, ornate rafter ends, some of the finishing boards, silver plates, etc. The external doors were renewed in accordance with the original project. Two apartments were added on the attic and an automatic fire protection alarm (ATS) installed to ensure the fire safety in the area.
